New Model Motherboards and the Alnet DVR Cards (compatibility) June 2006
We have tried for a Client the Microstar MS-7143 motherboard with 915Neo chipset. It ran the basic 4-port Alnet card but wouldn't even start with the 16-port card in place. Regretfully one motherboard to avoid.

We have found that the Intel915PL chipset on the ECS915PL-A motherboard will run both types of Alnet card, however the BIOS on this board does not have a setting to restart the computer after power outages. Therefore we recommend the ECS945P-A motherboard instead as it does have the capability and the correct BIOS features.

Windows Update removes C++ file needed for Alnet (June 2006)
Should your Alnet DVR be online and getting regular Windows Updates you may find that the Windows System Log starts showing errors. The error subject will be "Side by Side". This is part of C++ programming environment and shows a missing file. To fix this error download and run on the DVR an update from this link:
ftp://www.cctvtrade.com/pub/vcredist_x86.exe
If you also then get a Windows Installer error whilst trying to run this update you will need this file as well:

Make an AVI of your Alnet DVR footage (April 2005)
Limit yourself to 5 or 6 minute action sequences when producing AVI's to give to Police etc. as this is what will comfortably fit onto a CD, or about 30 minutes for a DVD.Simple instruction on searching and making your AVI is here.

Compatibility List for Alnet DVR (April 2005)
Intel chipset motherboards only (play by the rules and you will not have any challenges!)Compatibility list is here.

How to set up a direct dial connection, Alnet DVR (April 2005)
PC to PC telephone line link, instruction here. (This is direct dial, not through the Internet. Requires a Line Share Switch if you are sharing a telephone line). Direct dial is not the easy or fast way to talk to your Alnet DVR. Best option these days is high speed Internet.

Horizontal angle of view.

Lenses come in ranges from 2.5mm focal length (wide angle, up to 95 degrees depending on chip size) up to 60mm (narrow angle, around 11 degrees) and even more with zoom. For a list of lens angles click here

GeoVision:
We stopped promoting GeoVision in December 2003, so we are now well out of any warranty periods. If you are one of our GeoVision Users however we still provide you full support services! Whilst the product probably has the widest feature range, it's total reliance on the Windows filing system and its constant version issues have made it high maintenance. We pride ourselves on our support levels but also ended up providing support for product imported by up to six other GeoVision Importers because they couldn't or wouldn't, a situation that could not be allowed to continue to drag on our resources.
